Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if discounts are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Spacious 3 Bedroom Oceanview Condo at Sand Dunes Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before you book the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Note any damages to the property at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
