Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a rental budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to select the best rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Spacious Coastal Living Three Bdrm Condo 3rd Flr has 3 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before you book the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is best for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Put the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many problems.
- Keep the property locked while you're away! Don't let thieves ruin your vacation.
- Upon arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
