Finding the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Money saving strategies:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Property managers frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitors guides have discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Choosing the perfect vacation home in Myrtle Beach:
- Select your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Splendid & Spacious 3 bdrm-15CRP-Full Access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is best for your group.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, document any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible resource to find the best local spots.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, remember to take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
