Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in Fall or Spring is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Stay minutes from Barefoot Landing! Golf & Shopping! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge additional pet fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Know before you go:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
