Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Getting the most from your rental budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to 12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your rental search:
- Begin by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Myrtle Beach Resort 21st floor studio on the beach has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the property. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your trip.
- Are you visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- At departure, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
