How to find the best rental home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your vacation week, and choose a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Sun & Sand Waiting for You: Oceanfront Ste 4th Flr has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation group.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many difficulties.
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are helpful if a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed everything at check-out. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
