Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain money saving offers on local shops and restaurants.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. One Bedroom Condo in River Oaks Golf & Tennis Resort has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- Are you visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Remember to confirm all required amenities are available before booking
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a fantastic stay? Most rental managers make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
