How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book & When to go:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Planning and choosing a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select vacation dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Sunset Views and Modern Vibes: 2BR Beach Retreat has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking pages. If not, email or call the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific event? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
Some things to know before you go:
- Add the property manager's contact info to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make sure that damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. Get in touch with the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed everything on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on good reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
