Strategies to get the optimal Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to your rental budget:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental property six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Summer is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain coupons for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- First and foremost, have your family choose date ranges and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. Great Deal! Surfside Myrtle Beach - 3 Bedrooms! has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before booking the property. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is right for your family.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations:
- Get the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected everything. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
