Strategies to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To find the best value, consider shifting your trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, , and reduced traffic.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting and booking the perfectrental home:
- Start by having your family commit to a vacation week and a budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Teal Turtle Lodge Studio in Ocean Creek Resort has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is almost always accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Visiting for a single attraction or event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
Considerations for your stay:
- Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
