Rental home booking tips:
Get the most from your budget:
- Book your vacation in Fall or Spring months to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- First, have your family commit to trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Tropical Serenity Partial Ocean View Room 5th Flr has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often accessible online. If not, call the property management company before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Take a copy of the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
- During check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent resource to find the best local beaches.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
