Tips and Tricks to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Property management companies often offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
How to pick the best rental home in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Vacation home in Ocean lakes at Myrtle beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
- Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Advice for your stay:
- Store the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any damages to the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the host is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good reviews to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
