Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach rental home in Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Many property management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfectrental:
- Choose your vacation week and budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Walk to beach bars & Boardwalk, Family Kingdom, Amusement Park Shops & More! has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the host before reserving your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your agreement.
- Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a great stay:
- Add the owner's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents lots of problems.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental when you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review.
