Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To book the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer their guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have coupons for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
How to select the perfect vacation home:
- Start by selecting trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Just bring your bathing suit ! Steps to the beach ! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available online. If not, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to work out what is optimal for your vacation.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach attraction you love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about your furry family members before booking.
During your stay:
- Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain damages aren't linked to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
