Rental home tips and tricks:
Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Reserve your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Fall or Spring to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Selecting and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Select your vacation week and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Just bring your bathing suit ! Steps to the beach ! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You'll need to determine what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Request information on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Note any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all belongings on check-out day. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on good feedback to inspire future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
