Tricks and tips to get the perfect rental home experience:

Sticking to a spending plan:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To find the best vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, tours, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for more information.
  • Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have money saving offers on local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Selecting and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Reduced rates for the few days in July and some in August book your stay now! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is usually available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the host before you reserve your rental. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine which bed configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or charges applied to your invoice.
  • Does your family require particular amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
  • Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a fantastic stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
