Tips and Tricks to get the optimal rental home experience:
Find your perfect rental home:
- June, July, and August are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Book your Myrtle Beach rental property in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your group qualifies for a discount.
- Booking websites typically offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the perfect vacation rental:
- Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Beach Bum Spacious Suite with Views 14th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking pages. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the property. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- Looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your phone.
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be useful if a dispute arises.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Lock your rental while you are away. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, take photos of the rental to record its condition.
- Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
