Our top Myrtle Beach vacation rental tips:
Cost saving strategies:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of SC. To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- To start, have your family commit to vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group requires. Beachfront Bliss OF 3 BR Condo 14th Floor has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the home. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
- Does your group require particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Advice for a great stay:
- Store the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Keep your property safe!
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic resource to find the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected everything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
