Tips and Tricks for getting the best rental experience:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer promotional rates for veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Choosing the best vacation rental:
- Select a group leader, choose your dates, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. ? Ocean 22 by Hilton Grand Vacations ?? has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If not, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach destination you are crazy about, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are included before booking.
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
- To make sure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your peaceful home life. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and attractions you would've never otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
