Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation rental experience:

When to go & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your rental six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
  • To find the largest rental within your budget, we recommend reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at Myrtle Beach restaurants, beaches, and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose your prefect Myrtle Beach rental home:

  • Start by selecting your vacation dates and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Sun-filled Beachfront 2BR Condo at Dunes Village Resort has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To make certain that damages are not attributed to your visit, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a excellent time? Most rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
