Rental home booking tips and tricks:
When to visit & When to book:
- Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during holiday gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest vacation home within budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which will include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Waterside Paradise Suite with Views 7th Floor has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation.
- If your group is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
- Visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
- To make certain damages aren't attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Make contact with the property manager right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to confirm you've collected all belongings. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property a final time and look for damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a wonderful time? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
