How to book the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Cost saving strategies:
- The earlier you can book a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, try changing your vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick your prefect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Choose a group leader, choose your vacation week, and select a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 1 Bedroom in a 57 Acre Gated Resort + Official On-Site Rental Privileges has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before you book your rental. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You'll need to work out what is best for your vacation.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pet restrictions before booking.
- Does your group require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of issues.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to stimulate future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to remedy it.
