Booking the best vacation rental experience:
Finding your best deal:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking your vacation home in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season.
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Property managers usually offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Filter your search:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 10th-floor ocean-view studio with gym, AC, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, search for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Traveling with pets? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or may be applied to your invoice.
More considerations:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- Document any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be useful if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific source for finding the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let crooks spoil your family vacation.
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to propel new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
