Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Booking your Myrtle Beach vacation rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction.
- Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines which include special deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Finding the best rental home:
- Start by selecting your potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Grand Atlantic Resort Efficiency Condo FREE WIFI! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property management company before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your family is traveling with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are away, just like you would back home.
- During check-in, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors can be an excellent source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, take video of the property to record its condition.
- After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on good feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
