Tricks and tips for getting the perfect rental home experience:
Getting the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, consider changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and choose the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by having your family decide on vacation dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group needs. 10th-floor oceanfront snowbird-friendly studio with AC, pool, hot tub, & WiFi has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email or call the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you love, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental.
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or may be applied to your contract.
Advice for your stay:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your . We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- During arrival, note any issues with the property and immediately alert the owner. Record all coorespondence.
- Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would've never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
