How to find the best vacation home experience:

Getting the most from your rental budget:

  • The earlier you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Myrtle Beach. Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Planning and picking your prefectvacation home:

  • To start, have your family decide on vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. Harbour Lights, South Carolina, 1 Bedroom Deluxe has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.
  • Visiting for a single event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
