Myrtle Beach rental home tips and tricks:
Cost saving strategies:
- Summer is the most expensive season along the coast of SC. To find the best value, try changing your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The sooner you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Some hosts offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Planning and picking the perfectrental home:
- Choose dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. 11th-Floor, Oceanfront, Snowbird-Friendly Condo w\/ WiFi, AC, Shared Pool\/Hot Tub has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the property management company before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly rental. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.
More considerations for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the property manager right away to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few concerns.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors bothering your life at home. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, take a walk-through to make sure you did not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental managers make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
