How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer time is high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- The earlier you can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked early. Booking your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guides contain coupons for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Make a plan and choose yourrental:
- Begin by selecting your trip dates and a max budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 12th Flr Skyline Retreat: Oceanfront 2 Bdrm Condo has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If not, reach out to the property management company before booking your rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Get specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Tips for your stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To make sure damages are not linked to your family's visit, record any problem areas during arrival. Speak to the rental manager right away to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best bike paths, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your rental property while you are away! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a terrific vacation? Many rental home management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
