Strategies for getting the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation property up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are the most expensive season in coastal SC. To get the best value, change your family's Myrtle Beach vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain deals for nearby shops and restaurants.
Use filters to search efficiently:
- Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. 14th floor, high level studio with views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often available on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property manager before you reserve your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some properties allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, look for properties that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. .
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents quite a few problems.
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- To make sure no damages are attributed to your family's stay, inspect for any problem areas upon check in. Speak to the property manager immediately to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Re-check every room of the rental property to confirm that you've packed all of your belongings on check-out day. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Walk through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
