Our top Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
When to visit Myrtle Beach & When to book:
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To find the best value, consider shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby accommodations, tours and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking the right Myrtle Beach rental:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration you need. 14th floor, high level studio with views! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not leave anything behind. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a great stay? Most rental websites make it easy for guests to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
