Tips to get the very best Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
Getting the best value:
- Summer months are the most expensive season along the coast of SC. Booking in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Choosing the best rental:
- Begin by choosing trip dates and a max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 14th-floor ocean-view studio with AC, pool, hot tub & gym - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your vacation.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, search for homes that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- If your group is bringing pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers charge pet deposits and fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon check in. Contact the rental manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Lock your vacation home while you are out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a fantastic vacation? Most rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
