Strategies to get the very best rental experience:
Sticking to a spending plan:
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a price reduction.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides have discounts for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Select a group lead, select your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 14th-floor ocean-view studio with beach access, pool & hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your group.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach destination you long to visit, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would at home.
- To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, record any problem areas when you arrive. message the rental manager right away to report any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Don't forget to respect your neighbors. Often, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Did you have a wonderful stay? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
