Tricks and tips to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a spending budget:
- Book your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your rental home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides have coupons for local shops and restaurants.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- Choose your vacation dates and spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 9th-floor oceanfront studio with AC, pool, & hot tub has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property manager before booking the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask your host about pet restrictions before booking.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations:
- Be sure you get the host's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. Store the host's information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you're out! Don't let burglars spoil your vacation.
- Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your group have a excellent time? Most rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
