Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
When to go & When to reserve a rental home:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your vacation rental six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your Myrtle Beach vacation home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. 15th-floor ocean-view studio with pool, hot tub, WiFi & AC - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, email the host before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation family.
- If your group is traveling with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Get information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Record any issues with the property at check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are valuable if there is a dispute.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to inspire new reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
