Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the best value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
- Summer is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the largest rental for your budget, we recommend reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective vacation rental company or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special rate.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines have money saving offers on local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Filter your rental search:
- To start, have your group agree to the best dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. 16th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, AC, pool, hot tub - snowbird-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, reach out to the property manager before you book the property. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you love, search for rentals that are either close by, or those that cater especially to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
Know before you go:
- Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- During arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent resource to find the best local attractions.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to confirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the rental a final time and look for damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did you have a great stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
