How to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property managers often offer guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book the best Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 16th-floor oceanfront condo with great ocean & beach views, hot tubs, pools, gym has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, contact the host before you book the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you love, browse rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking.
More considerations:
- Add the owner's contact information to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make note of any problem areas during check in. Contact the host immediately to record any issues. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peace and quiet. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
