Tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:

Get the best rental value:

  • To get the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer great weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. 17th-floor oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub, WiFi & beach location has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually accessible online. Otherwise, email the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? Use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, but others don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the host about pet restrictions before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, note any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or washer/dryer. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Double-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at departure. Make sure to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, remember to take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Remember to leave a review! Property owners rely on excellent feedback to propel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
