Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal SC. Reserving a rental home in the Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation home. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental properties are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Some hosts and property managers offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by having your family select date ranges and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 17th-floor oceanfront condo with pool, hot tub, WiFi & beach location has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property manager before booking your rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If there's a specific Myrtle Beach beach you crave, look for homes that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
- Record any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on great feedback to inspire more reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
