Tips to get the best vacation rental experience:
When to visit & When to book:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your vacation rental 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
- Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is our favorite way to save money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies often offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations and attractions.
How to select the perfect rental:
- First, have your group decide on date ranges and a budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 1BR Dunes Village RESORT, TWO WATERPARKS on OCEAN! has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always accessible on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your trip.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many concerns.
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- During arrival, note any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would have not otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed everything on check-out day. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
