Vacation rental booking tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- To find the best value, shift your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer pleasant weather, , and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts offer special rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guide magazines contain discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Finding the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Steps from the beach - Completely renovated Modern, 2b\/2bath - 2 Pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before you book your home. Note that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Is your group looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
- Some rental properties allow pets, but some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask your host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Have a fantastic stay:
- We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the property manager. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if there is a dispute.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of problems.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a great source for finding the best local beaches.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
