Strategies to get the perfect vacation rental experience:
Money saving strategies:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the largest rental within budget, we suggest booking in Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities.
- Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family before you book.
- Property management companies frequently offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines have offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the best rental home in the Myrtle Beach area:
- First and foremost, have your group commit to the best dates and a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Steps from the beach - Completely renovated Modern, 2b\/2bath - 2 Pools has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property manager before reserving the rental. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation family.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or could be applied to your agreement.
Have a wonderful stay:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the directions to your phone, and take a printed copy.
- To ensure that damages aren't linked to your visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Leave a review! Property owners rely on good reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
