Our top Myrtle Beach rental home tips:
How to get the best rental value:
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation rental.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your family qualifies for a special rate.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guides which include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Filter your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. 2 bdr\/2 bath Oceanfront (based on availability) has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs might be applied to your invoice.
- Does your family require special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the perfect rental.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More considerations for your visit:
- Be sure you get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would back home.
- Document any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be very helpful if there is a dispute.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the host isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a fantastic time? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
