Vacation rental booking tips:

Sticking to a rental home budget:

  • To get the best value, change your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • In the Myrtle Beach area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
  • Booking websites usually offer guests an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually will cost 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Start by selecting your the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Cute family friendly home close to amenities in Ocean Lakes Family Campground.\n has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation group.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Get information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Tips for your stay:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your smartphone.
  • To make sure damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas during check in. E-mail the property manager immediately to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful vacationers bothering your home life. Apply the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to confirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
