Tricks and tips for getting the best rental home experience:
How to get the best rental home value:
- Summertime is high season in Myrtle Beach. Book your vacation home in the Fall or Spring to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Choose dates and maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration you need. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Topsail Cottage—Walk to the beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most properties list maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches.
- Visiting for a specific attraction or event? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable breeds and types before booking.
Additional considerations:
- Get the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
- To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during arrival. message the rental manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent many problems.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Lock your rental while you are out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at departure. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and look for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the host is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your rental and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
