Vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the best value, shift your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if discounts are available for your family.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area travel guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.
Narrow your Search:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family requires. 2 Bed, 2 Bath Topsail Cottage—Walk to the beach! has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach vacation rental search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property manager before booking the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your contract.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental
More considerations for your visit:
- Review check in & check out procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you're away. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- To make sure that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon your arrival. message the property manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your life at home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
