Tricks and tips to get the optimal Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
- The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Property management companies usually offer customers an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guide magazines contain deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Narrow your rental Search:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. BRAND NEW! Beach Bungalow-Short walk to the Beach in Oceanside Village has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to establish what configuration is right for your family.
- Looking for specific amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Do your family pets travel with you? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges could be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's phone number to your phone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
- To make certain no damages are linked to your stay, inspect the property for any problem areas upon check in. E-mail the host immediately to report any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect your neighbors. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your rental while you are out. Protect the owner's property and your things!
- Just prior to departing, take a final walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your feedback find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
