Tricks and tips for getting the perfect vacation property experience:

When to reserve a Myrtle Beach rental home & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some owners offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers typically offer customers an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many rental management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:

  • Select a group lead, choose your vacation dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your group requires. 2 Tiny blocks to beach, Next to the Theme Park,2BIG BR Comfortably Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is regularly available on booking websites. If not, contact the property management company before reserving the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation family.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property management company about pet restrictions before booking.
  • Are you looking for unique amenities? Most websites include amenity lists and search filters. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

More tips for your visit:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or thermostat. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many issues.
  • Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Document any damages to the rental during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you didn't leave anything behind. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to inspire future bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will be thankful you shared your experience find their best rental home. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
