Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. Reserve your rental home in the Spring or Fall to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental property up to 12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Hosts sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special discounts are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
- Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guides which include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Select vacation dates and budget.
- Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. 2 Tiny blocks to beach, Next to the Theme Park,2BIG BR Comfortably Sleeps 8 has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is normally available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before booking your home. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
- If there's an individual Myrtle Beach beach you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your needs.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
- Some rental properties allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
Tips for a great stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone.
- To ensure that damages are not linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas upon check in. Call the property manager right away to report any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to charter a fishing boat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your group have a fantastic stay? Many rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
