Getting the best vacation rental experience:
Sticking to a rental home budget:
- To find the largest rental within your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at local restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Some hosts and property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
- Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for additional information.
- Look for your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Finding the best vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Select a designated group leader, choose your dates, and choose a max budget.
- Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Ocean Forest Villas Unit C310 - Oceanfront has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is suitable for your family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find your ideal rental home.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Remember to confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Are you bringing the family pet? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Additional fees or charges may be applied to your contract.
Additional considerations:
- Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Note any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be beneficial if a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all belongings. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the rental a final time and look for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
