Tips for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation property experience:
Sticking to your budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Myrtle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer pleasant temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation homes are reserved very early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental.
- Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
- Often, management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitors guide magazines that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning and picking the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation home:
- Start by having your group choose the best dates and a max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. 21st-floor partial ocean-view condo with pool, hot tub, AC, & W\/D has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email the property owner before booking your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Are you looking for special amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
- Remember to include your furry companions! Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.
Additional considerations:
- Add the property manager's information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- Upon check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often an excellent source for finding the best local beaches and restaurants.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Keep your property safe!
- Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was inoperable and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
