Tricks and tips to get the best Myrtle Beach vacation home experience:
When to book a Myrtle Beach rental & When to go:
- Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups reserve their Summer vacations during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- To get the largest vacation home within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of large crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Some property managers offer discounts for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach area magazine upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to select the best rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. 7th-floor ocean-view studio with WiFi, AC, pools & hot tubs - dog-friendly has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is regularly available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the property management company before reserving the rental. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach attraction you are enamored with, search for properties that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Know before you go:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Add a note with the directions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant visitors disrupting your home life. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would've never otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
