How to get the best vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental value:
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in Myrtle Beach. To book the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we recommend booking in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Myrtle Beach restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Myrtle Beach vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Some hosts offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group.
- Property managers often offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.
Use filters to narrow your search:
- To start, have your family decide on trip dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your family needs. Gorgeous Intracoastal Water Views (By Beach Star) has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rental home search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. If not, email or call the host before you reserve your rental. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
- Does your family require unique amenities? Most websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
More tips for your visit:
- Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, intercom or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
- Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would back home.
- At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
- Respect your neighbors. Often, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your family's items on check-out day. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation rental. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
