Tips to get the perfect Myrtle Beach vacation rental experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Summer months are high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To get the best value, try changing your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Myrtle Beach visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Filter your search:
- Select a group lead, select your vacation dates, and choose a max budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Ocean Lakes MH152 3 BR - 2 Bath Special off-season Rates has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is usually accessible online. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you book your home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the property manager about pets before booking.
- If there's a certain Myrtle Beach destination you are enamored with, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
Know before you go:
- Be sure you get the property manager's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents quite a few issues.
- Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves spoil your trip.
- Record any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately send them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious visitors bothering your peace. Use the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to make sure you haven't forget anything. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and look for any damage. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
