Tips and Tricks for getting the perfect Myrtle Beach rental home experience:
How to get the best rental value:
- Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal SC. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Myrtle Beach vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer warmer weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
- Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites often offer their guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, travel guides contain offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Selecting the perfect vacation rental in the Myrtle Beach area:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family requires. 2BR 2BA OCEAN VIEW IN THE SEAWATCH RESORT GREAT AMENITIES has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before booking the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds and bunks.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a property that allows animals. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Myrtle Beach attraction you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater especially to your desires.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
More considerations:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and save the instructions to your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, television set or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent lots of difficulties.
- Lock your rental home while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
- During arrival, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Re-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Remember to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property one final time and look for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the host is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
