Finding the best Myrtle Beach rental experience:
Sticking to your rental home budget:
- Summer time is high season in the Myrtle Beach area. To find the best value, try changing your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving and Christmas get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Myrtle Beach area visitor guides which often include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Planning, picking, and booking a perfect Myrtle Beach rental home:
- Start by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Magnolia Pointe 203 near Myrtlewood Golf Club has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull out couches in living rooms.
- Visiting for a single attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- If your family is bringing pets, search for a property that allows animals. Ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a great stay:
- Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
- Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors disrupting your life at home. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would have not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are away, just like you would at home.
- Upon check-out, complete a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to drive future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
