Our top Rental property booking tips:
Find your perfect vacation home:
- June, July, and August are high season in Myrtle Beach. To get the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
- In the Myrtle Beach area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental property six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.
How to pick the perfect vacation rental in Myrtle Beach:
- Start by having your group agree to trip dates and a max budget.
- Note the number beds and the bed configuration your group requires. 2BR1BA Close to the Beach! Ocean Lakes! Golf cart included. Bathroom Remodeled. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Myrtle Beach rentals search.
- Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, contact the property owner before you reserve the home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
- If your family is vacationing with pets, you'll need to find a rental that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Often, hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
During your stay:
- We recommend storing the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Note any issues with the rental upon arrival, and immediately contact the owner. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are beneficial if damages are assessed.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents quite a few issues.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known about!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
- Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific vacation? Most vacation rental websites make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
